SATURDAY: TR Register production car AutoTest

Takes place in the Motorsport Arena within the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, on the Saturday morning.

Our Autotest is all about having real fun in your car on a flowing course with no reversing.  Your task will be to drive your car as quickly as possible through the course which will run over tarmac, grass and a loose, dusty, gritty surface.  Having a navigator will help you through the course.  You’ll get at least three attempts.  There is no additional entry fee for the navigator.

Cars must be driven to the event, so must be taxed and, where appropriate, hold a valid MoT certificate.  Cars are split into classes for 3 / 4 , 5 / 6, or 8 / 12 cylinder cars.

This is a Motorsport UK Taster event and is open to any driver 18 years and over, holding a full valid driving licence, whether a car club member or not.  However, as this Autotest is run under a Motorsport UK Clubman’s permit, all drivers and navigators will need to hold a 2024 RS Clubman Licence .  There is no cost for this and can be applied for online with a mobile phone on the day although it’s probably easier to do so now.

Your car will need to be checked over by a scrutineer before you take to the course.  Scrutineering will start at 9.30 am with the driving starting at 10am.  At 1.55pm there will be a short awards ceremony for the prestigious “Most Entertaining Drive” as well as the fastest car in each class.

This event is limited to 24 cars, so a timely entry is recommended.

SUNDAY: MGCC AutoSolo

Takes place in the Motorsport Arena within the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, on the Sunday morning. Cars must be road-legal with a valid MoT certificate (if required) and insurance.

The MG Car Club AutoSOLO comprises a series of tests laid out on smooth tarmac. Drivers must manoeuvre a road car as quickly as possible around a course marked out by a series of coloured cones, set out as numbered “gates” making slaloms and turns, with a flying finish.   No reversing.

Each competitor has three runs at each course layout, with the best two times to count. During a comfort break the course layout is changed, and then the format is repeated.  Drivers can opt to have a passenger / navigator in the car at no additional entry fee.

AutoSOLO competitors are split into three groups: either driving, marshalling or observing, and then the group rotates. Those marshalling will be guided by our experienced marshals. This ensures that everyone is fully involved.  For this Malvern Inter-Club International event there are several classes of cars, and this Taster event is open to any driver 18 years and over holding a valid driving licence, whether a car club member or not.

However, as this AutoSOLO is run under a Motorsport UK Clubman’s permit, all drivers and navigators will need to hold a 2024 RS Clubman Licence .  There is no cost for this licence and it can be applied for online and with mobile phone, thought this needs to be done before you sign-on for the event.

This is not a team event. At the end of the competition, the entrants with the fastest overall time in each class (need three or more in a class) is the winner and trophies will be awarded. The AutoSOLO event opens for scrutineering of your car and signing on from 9:00am on Sunday 30th June. Cars may also be scrutineered on Friday and Saturday afternoons from 4:30 pm onwards in the Motorsport Arena.  Full details of this will be in the Final Instructions, issued in the week of the event.

The competition will start at 10:00am and finish no later than 1:15pm. Results will be announced no later than 3:00pm and awards presented between 3:30pm and 4:00pm.

Details of what is required for your road-legal vehicle to pass scrutineering are in the Supplementary Regulations.

The following classes will apply:

·      Class A: MG Cars manufactured from 1924-1980
